The Burning Bush

A boy in a coat of many colors passed through a pit and a prison to become governor of Egypt. Before his brothers, Joseph wept. Tap the scene to meet the verse behind each place.

A pit, slavery, a prison. Joseph's road was dark for a long time. Yet God turned all of it for good. Even when the road you walk is dark now, God writes the ending.

As for you, what you intended against me for evil, God intended for good, in order to accomplish a day like this—to preserve the lives of many people.

The brothers who hated him

When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.

The coat of many colors

Now Israel loved Joseph more than his other sons, because Joseph had been born to him in his old age; so he made him a robe of many colors.

The bowing sheaves

We were binding sheaves of grain in the field, and suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around and bowed down to mine.”

The Coat and the Dream

Grain like the sand of the sea

So Joseph stored up grain in such abundance, like the sand of the sea, that he stopped keeping track of it; for it was beyond measure.

The answer belongs to God

“I myself cannot do it,” Joseph replied, “but God will give Pharaoh a sound answer.”

Joseph made governor

Pharaoh also told Joseph, “I hereby place you over all the land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh removed the signet ring from his finger, put it on Joseph’s finger, clothed him in garments of fine linen, and placed a gold chain around his neck.

Governor of Egypt

God meant it for good

I am Joseph

Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph! Is my father still alive?” But they were unable to answer him, because they were terrified in his presence. Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Please come near me.” And they did so. “I am Joseph, your brother,” he said, “the one you sold into Egypt!

God sent me ahead

God sent me before you to preserve you as a remnant on the earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
