The Walls of Jericho

Moses, once a prince of Egypt, became a shepherd in the wilderness. Forty years later, a bush that burned without burning up called his name. Tap the scene to meet the verse behind each place.

To a shepherd of forty years in the wilderness, God came in a bush that burned. An ordinary day in an ordinary place becomes holy ground when God calls.

“I will surely be with you,” God said, “and this will be the sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, all of you will worship God on this mountain.”

The fire that did not consume

There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from within a bush. Moses saw the bush ablaze with fire, but it was not consumed.

Bring my people out

Therefore, go! I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring My people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

Take off your sandals

“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

The Burning Bush

Horeb, the mountain of God

Jethro's flock

Meanwhile, Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

The staff in his hand

And the LORD asked him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied.

Leading the Flock to Horeb

Jethro's seven daughters

Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father’s flock.

A stranger in a foreign land

And she gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom, saying, “I have become a foreigner in a foreign land.”

The well and the flock

And when some shepherds came along and drove them away, Moses rose up to help them and watered their flock.
